ExxonMobil Chemical customer story: another step in flexibility, traceability, customer experience and sustainability

ExxonMobil Chemical aimed to find a digital solution that would help it to:
a. face increasing operational complexity imposed by changing governmental regulations
b. address the need for digitization of their internal business processes
c. ensure the reach of their sustainability goals
They sought improvement in two domains: operations efficiency and visibility by (among other things) optimising their supply chain transparency, eliminating need to re-label, enabling recycling and fully automated warehouse.
The solution
Serialised twintags placed on every pallet enable a broad variety of digital processes surrounding ExxonMobil Chemical products. Each unit in the pallet has a unique QR code linking to a piece of cloud storage where all product-related information is stored, organised and is ready to be updated and shared any time anywhere.
The possibility to alter the linked information allows for relabelling, product specs adjustments, new digital functionalities rollout, product classification at a later stage (e.g. off-spec) and supports compliance with the emerging regulations imposing traceability requirements. The European Commission’s Digital Product Passport initiative is the most recent example of such traceability requirements.
Incorporating Supply Chain Visibility solution offered ExxonMobil Chemical a better analysis and improvement in the efficiency of their supply chain. The products are more than assets now, they act as a gateway to a new marketing and communication channel strengthening customer engagement and retention.
