Katoen Natie: Paperless Truck

Katoen Natie launched a new product, ‘Paperless Truck’, to reduce waiting times, eliminate excessive paper, and digitally upgrade their transports.

Katoen Natie is a Belgian logistics and engineering company that provides a wide range of services, including logistics, storage, and transportation solutions for various industries. They specialize in handling and storing goods, as well as offering value-added services like packaging and distribution.

Challenges

Before the Twintag solution, Katoen Natie operators spent a lot of time and resources preparing legal matters on CMRs for all of their outbound orders. This daily process required hours of manual work, many internal emails, left a lot of room for human error, and consumed a lot of paper documents.

Long queues were created at their terminals as drivers had to wait until all documents were printed and manually brought to the trucks.

Simple, yet powerful solution

Real-time documentation management

A CMR waybill equipped with a twintag replaces multiple printed products and shipping papers. All essential product information is now bound into one branded interface. With only the CMR being printed, the software automates document upload and retention for up to 5 years post-driver departure, minimizing the risk of loss or human error.

Twintags offer more than just documentation efficiency — they allow users to actively participate in brand interactions, provide feedback, and access exclusive content. Digitization reduces waiting times, leading to cost savings, and integrates seamlessly with Warehouse Management Systems, fostering an eco-friendly approach by significantly reducing paper usage.

How to get started

Empty twintags are generated and uploaded to Plato, Katoen Natie’s ERP system.

Plato links twintags to shipments.

Twintags are printed on CMR waybills. Other documents are digitally uploaded to the appropriate twintag.
