The customer

EQUANS is the world leader in multi-technical installations and maintenance services. They cover the entire value chain of installations: consultancy, feasibility studies, engineering, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, project management, energy efficiency audits, multi-technical management, and maintenance.

The collaboration with Twintag was carried out with the Offshore Division of Equans which focuses on wind high-voltage substations. With its expertise in Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning (EPCIC) of Offshore High-Voltage Substations (OHVS) as well as the Monitoring and Maintenance of complete offshore wind farms, EQUANS is contributing to the decarbonization and decentralization of energy worldwide.

Challenges

Manual documentation has been a default solution for keeping track of inner processes and logistics at EQUANS. This posed a challenge to their operational efficiency, impacting the overall construction processes and final deadlines.

In a strategic move to outpace competitors, EQUANS decided to digitalize all of their manual workflows. The primary goal of this collaboration was to implement a digital monitoring system for construction processes to reduce installation errors and minimize delays.

With a simple QR code scan, all involved stakeholders access real-time information on cables and equipment (5000 cables and 3000 equipment units per one project/one offshore substation) in a personalized digital interface. This includes elemental characteristics, detailed routing information, installation instructions, engineers' comments, safety alerts, and testing reports — all securely stored in the Twintag platform, readily available, and editable at any time.
